Dr. Ian C. Woodward is an Emeritus Professor of Management Practice at INSEAD—the business school for the world, specialising in Leadership, Communication and Strategic Thinking. He is also the Academic Director of the Institute for Leadership Communication.
Ian lectures in a wide range of INSEAD degree and executive programmes. He was Director of its flagship Advanced Management Programme (AMP) for a decade.
At the Institute he directs the popular online Leadership Communication with Impact course and webinars.
In addition to his academic work, he consults on leadership, communication and business strategy with major organisatios around the world.
He is first author of the book Exploring Leadership Drivers and Blockers (2019), as well as The Phoenix Encounter Method: Lead Like Your Business is on Fire! on strategic leadership thinking, released in 2020.
Ian brings a unique combination of global business, government, communication and arts experience to executive education. Before academia, his business career included Board Directorships, Chief Executive, Senior Executive and Executive Consulting roles in the financial and energy sectors. He is also the Associate Conductor of the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra in Singapore.
Ian is a frequent keynote speaker at global business conferences (virtual and in-person) and media events. He is an alumnus of the Macquarie Graduate School of Management, University of New South Wales, the Australian Graduate School of Management, University of New England and Columbia Business School.
